Lead Multimedia Developer is an integral member of SSE’s Learning Services development team, working closely with the instructional designer and project manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of web-based learning content.
The role of the Lead Multimedia Developer includes the following:
- Understands and has experience with level 2/3 interactivity and methodologies in development of online training courses. Outputs will typically include prototypes, virtual learning community portals, instructional content, assessment content, integration with learning management systems, and SCORM compliant learning objects.
- Conceptualizes and implements the output of courseware writers, subject matter experts, and instructional designers while producing a final layout compatible with corporate and client standards. Implementation includes interface elements, images, instructional elements, audio and video.
- Optimizes learning modules for web deployment- including pre-loaders, video and sound quality, frame rates, and staging.
- Uses creativity in the development of virtual learning communities and educational content.
Must be able to understand business and client objectives, and meet them within budget and identified time lines. Must adhere to pre-established guidelines and instructions for completing projects.
May interact directly with current and potential clients in the development of work outputs and/or service requests.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform the duties of multimedia developer (programmer) on one or more projects.
- Produce prototypes, virtual learning community portals, instructional content, guided demonstrations, assessment content, integration with learning management systems, and SCORM compliant learning objects
- Code and implement custom content objects and integrate with the SCORM API.
- Review and ensure production quality, technical correctness and instructional soundness of draft/final interactive multimedia lesson segments
- Participate in all phases of project execution (Analysis, Design, Development, Deployment)
- Understand and articulate project scope and vision – client alignment.
- Apply adult learning principles to blended learning solutions.
- Understand graphic design and layout principles.
General Skills Requirements:
- Ability to work well within a collaborative, dynamic team environment including project manager, other courseware developers, multimedia developers, graphics artists, and technical editors.
- Ability to work independently and ensure performance to reach deadlines and milestones.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver a complex message – either written or verbal.
- Strong knowledge of web-based training applications. Proficiency with the following productivity applications:
- Microsoft Windows 7
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- SharePoint (desired)
- MS Project (desired)
- MS Visio (desired)
Education and Job-Specific Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, web design, computer science or related field and a minimum of five years experience.
- Expert level proficiency with Adobe Flash CS4, Dreamweaver, and 3rd party Flash components.
- Expert level proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Expert level proficiency with HTML, DHTML, Java Script and Action Script programming languages desired.
- Experience with Lectora Inspire desired.
- Experience with mobile content development desired.
- Experience with online content development toolsets such as Force 10, Click to Learn, desired.
- Experience deploying content to one or more SCORM conformant learning management systems.
- Experience with applying a variety of multimedia tools, concepts, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Soundforge or similar audio editing suite desired.
- Knowledge of Adobe Premier or similar video editing suite desired.
- Knowledge of SCORM data calls and implementing SCORM compliant learning objects.
- Demonstrated experience in producing results in a timely and efficient manner, working in a consulting environment, and working directly with clients is a plus.
