Being A WOSB Is The Realization Of A Long, Hard-Fought Journey
Susan S. Elliott founded SSE in 1966—a time when profound technological advances were routinely assumed to have come from the minds of men, and strong female leaders were not readily sought after by the general workforce. She leveraged her experience working for IBM and foresaw the impact that complex computer systems would have for the business world.
Elliott began designing, developing, and fostering the growth of a company that would not only support this new technology but help it thrive. And when SSE became a certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE) in 1995 and an official Women-Owned Small Business in 2015, it was the realization of decades of hard work, trailblazing, and pushing the limit of what was previously thought possible.
Ever since Elliott started this journey 56 years ago, we’ve consistently tried to replicate, improve upon, and live by the values she exemplifies, which is part of the reason that we’re so proud of our WBE and WOSB certification.

SSE was created by a leader who didn’t believe in pigeonholing her talents based on what was expected of her. And in over half a century of working alongside experts from all walks of life, we’re happy to still carry on that tradition today.
