Graphic Artist Responsibilities: Produces all graphics, animations and screen design for interactive multimedia learning modules. Job inputs include design documents, graphics requests, sketches, concepts, and verbal input. Work outputs include graphics images and animations for inclusion in learning modules. As an integral member of Blended Learning development teams you would work closely with Subject Matter Experts, instructional designers and project managers in the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer-based or electronic learning content. Content may be deployed to a SCORM based learning management system or stand alone CD/DVD ROM. Understands and has experience with level 2/3 interactivity and methodologies in development of online training courses. Conceptualizes and implements the output of courseware writers, subject matter experts, and instructional designers while producing a final layout compatible with corporate and client standards. Implementation includes interface elements, graphics, photos, illustrations, music, voice, and instructional elements. Uses creativity in the development of graphical, animations, and educational content. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the requirements of the job. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform the duties of graphics artist on one or more projects. Produce graphics, animations, photos, illustrations, music, voice, and educational content from provided design documents, graphics requests, sketches, concepts and verbal input. Applies generally accepted graphic design and layout principles. Design and produce screen layouts Review and ensure quality, technical correctness and instructional soundness of draft/final interactive multimedia lesson segments Work independently under minimal supervision Participate in all phases of project execution (Analysis, Design, Development, Deployment) Understand and articulate project scope and vision – client alignment. Understanding of adult learning principles and how they apply to blended learning solutions. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment including project manager, other courseware developers, multimedia developer, graphics artist, and technical editor skill sets. Ability to work independently and ensure performance to deadlines and milestones. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver a complex message – either written or verbal. General knowledge of using web-based training applications. Strong working knowledge of the following software applications: Microsoft Windows XP MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator Bryce 4 Adobe Flash 3d Studio Max Deneba Canvas Adobe Premier (video edit) MS Access (desired) MS Project (desired) EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in graphics design, web design, computer science or related field. Five + years of experience in lieu of degree is acceptable. Expert level proficiency with Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and 3rd party Flash components is essential. Expert level proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Proficiency with 3D Studio Max HTML, DHTML, Java Script and Action Script programming language experience preferred. Knowledge of SCORM data calls and implementing SCORM compliant learning objects preferred. Experience with using a variety of the multimedia work and how to apply the appropriate concepts, practices and procedures. Demonstrated ability to produce results in a timely and efficient manner. Must be a self-starter, able to work on a highly collaborative team in a dynamic environment.
